I have never done any quilting but had some time to learn a new hobby so I joined this quilt along. Sheri’s instructions helped me get through some pretty intricate paper piecing and I learned so much. The quilt is turning out much better than I dreamed possible. Butterfly bunch is is a great way to dive in to paper piecing.

The pattern was very clearly written and easy to follow – even for a complete paper piecing newbie!

I would highly recommend the Butterfly Bunch pattern. The directions were very complete and easy to follow. The tips and videos on the blog were very helpful too. It was my first paper piecing project and I was very happy with my project. I am planning on making a single butterfly mini quilt for my sewing room.

I enjoyed making the Butterfly Bunch quilt. This was my first paper piecing project. The instructions in the pattern are clear and easy to follow. The extra tips and videos from the Quilt Along were especially helpful. I made the wall quilt with four butterflies; and I am planning on using an individual butterfly for a mini quilt.

I love this pattern. It seems complicated at first, but the directions are easy to follow, there are illustrations to support the written directions, and Sheri used placement dots along the edge of the pattern to help line up all the seams so they went together effortlessly. The end result is beautiful!

The butterfly bunch quilt-along with Sheri was great. The program ran about a month long with weekly video or blog updates. I have done several paper piecing projects over the years and I learned a couple very helpful and important tips from her. I have struggled with getting the fabric pieces the right size. I actually purchased the wafer light box and mat she recommended and it was a lifesaver. It helped save on cutting errors. I also liked that you didn’t have to precut all your pieces of fabric. This was a huge timesaver. The segment on “positioning pins” and the type of pins to use was my other new helpful tip to learn.the biggest ah ha moment is her statement “position the fabric where you’ve been, not where you’re going”!
Sheri’s blog was easy to read and follow and the videos were well done. She was very complementary during the process and is approachable if you have any questions. I’m finding the quiltalongs are a nice way to “meet” others and learn from them as well.
